Customer Testimonials & Reviews

What our customers have been saying about the Anvil and it's staff.

"5 stars, superb!"
We regularly ate at this wonderful restaurant until it closed back in April 2011 as it had to move to a new premises. We really missed Anvil and its fabulous food until it reopened again in August 2011.

We finally got to visit the new premises earlier this month and were delighted to see that the same wonderful staff are still there, the food is as exceptional as we had got accustomed to and the service was just perfect. You really cannot go wrong with Anvil - the food is just magnificent. It is worth every penny and we were delighted to see that it's been really busy since they reopened.

Wishing them every success in their new premises and we can't wait to go back again. The food is just amazing. Highly recommended!

Open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday with early bird special all night on Tuesday, which featured prix fixe 3-course meal. Good wine selection but no beer available. My meal was a fantastic squash/pepper soup and salmon for the first two courses. I upgraded my dessert selection to the delectable toffee pudding with butterscotch. Very nice meal in a fantastic atmosphere with great service.

It's less than a 10-minute walk from Citywest but a world away from the crowded and hectic resort atmosphere.

I eat in the Anvil on a regular basis and i have to say its fab . Staff are brilliant and atmosphere lovely. I noticed a difference in the price yesterday when I was there "for the better!!" but no difference in the quantity or quality!!!

Great Restaurant
Excellent atmosphere, great quality food with original presentation, friendly and helpful staff! A must visit restaurant, when in greater Dublin. I ate there many times between June 2008 and November 2008, when I was living in Saggart and I would certainly visit it again whenever I get the chance to re-visit beautiful Ireland.

this is always the monthly treat for myself and my partner. goats cheese tartlet is the most heavenly thing ever, try the calamari if its on! cannot fault the fillet steak, little pricey but worth every penny of you enjoy a good piece of meat. always cooked to perfection, champ and greens it is by far the best meal in my month! good choice of wines, house wines specially good. desserts are always a winner even the ice cream is amazing, some just but in cheap stuff but the obviously care! staff always ready to assist with choice and very attentive. don't forget the espresso to end it all!

Superb food , friendly & helpful staff
We just ate there today, a group of five for lunch. A really enjoyable experience and very good value. The food was superb, the staff pleasant and efficient. We will definitely be back. The lunch menu is really well designed with a good selection, and the desserts are appealing and delicious. Thanks for a great meal!

The Anvil is a little nugget of a find and great for lunch before heading down the country on the N7.It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but I have to say I'm a divil for the lunches! The service is friendly, yet professional and most importantly - consistent.

It's a pity its location doesnt lend itself to outside dining because it would be a lovely spot for lunchtime coffee in the sun - when the rain stops! The lunches are a great size and there are always scrummy specials on. They also do a Low Cal Chicken salad which is a huge bowl of healthy salad and grilled cajun chicken. Very tasty!

My favourite, less healthy option is the chilli bean wrap served with homemade potato wedges. Just thinking about it makes me want to ring and book a table. Booking tables isn't necessary these days - blame the "R". Try the desserts too - all homemade and great big helpings!

My number 1 spot for lunch in this area - it's half the price of nearby Avoca but serves food that's just as tasty without the pretentiousness or the preening!

Not sure what it's like for dinner but would be interested to hear what people think. Don't know if I could be persuaded to desert the auld chilli bean wrap no matter how tempting the dinner options were!
